Use of the Facility / Permits

Great Neck House meeting rooms, when not in Park District use, may be available to non-profit "Great Neck - based Community Organizations" upon written application approved by the Great Neck Park District Board of commissioners. Great Neck based Community Organizations are defined as those which meet at least once a year having at least 75% of active members residing within the Park District. no commercial meeting shall be permitted. Use of the facility does not constitute endorsement of the organization or program by the Park Board or any of its employees. Failure to comply with the stated conditions or any relevant Park District Ordinances can cancel current or future facility permit:
  • Permits are non-transferable
  • All co-sponsoring organizations must be named on application
  • Meetings must be open to Park District residents and their guests
  • No unwarranted publicity or implication that organization or program is sponsored or approved by the Great Neck Park District
  • Great Neck House name or address may not be used as official address or headquarters of any organization
  • There shall be no smoking in Great Neck House as per Article Number 8 Nassau County Public Health Law

Application


Application for "use of the facility" must be made at Great Neck House at least 2 weeks before first requested date. Each Group shall fill out a Use of Facility Request Form (PDF) for each month use is requested. (Multiple dates per month may me listed on 1 form) no meeting dates may be publicized listed or mailed until official conformation is received by the Great Neck Park District. The Great Neck Park District reserves the right the cancel or alter approved facility dates, times and room assignments should additional conflicting requests for these facilities justify such action.

Revocation of Application Approval


The Great Neck Park District reserves the right the cancel or alter approved facility dates, times and room assignments should additional conflicting requests for these facilities. The Park District also reserves the right to revoke a permit for violations of Park District regulations.

Cancellation

For the courtesy of other groups wanting to use the Great Neck House facilities we ask that all groups give at least one weeks notice prior to a cancelled event. In the event of inclement weather please call 516-482-0355 for facility closings.

Hours & Fees


In general, the facility is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week. Hours subject to change without previous warning. Use may be requested at times other then operating hours at an additional expense of the requesting group to be determined at time of application. The Great Neck Park District reserves the right to restrict these hours based on staff availability and Park District usage.

Parking


Parking shall be in designated areas only. Anyone parking illegally may be ticketed and towed at the owners' expense.

Publicity & Hand Out Literature


Any information pertaining to the use of Great Neck House, whether sent out or distributed on premises must have prior approval of the facility manager and or Park District Public Relations staff. All such materials must show sponsor organization name more prominently than name and address of Great Neck House, which may be used only to identify meeting location.

Adult Supervision


For all youth activities a Park District adult must be present during use of the facility.

Furniture & Equipment


Furniture and Equipment May not be used or moved, or decorations, scenery or signs put up, without facility managers prior approval. Use of equipment not provided by Great Neck House must have facility manager's prior approval. Except with special approval, all materials brought onto premises must be removed by the organization at the end of the assigned time. Furniture that was moved must be treated with care and re-set at the end of the meeting.

Refreshments


All groups serving refreshments must make sure to clean up after. The Great Neck House does not provide any facilities to store or heat up refreshments. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted unless previously approved by the Park Board. Request to serve alcoholic beverages must be made in writing to the Board of Commissioners.

Clean Up


All groups are responsible for their own group. All refuse must be disposed of as instructed by the manager on duty. (The park district reserves the right to impose a clean up fee for large groups, groups with large set-ups or groups that leave a excessive mess)

Amendment of Rules & Regulations


Amendment may be made by the Board of commissioners, as it deems proper.
