The Great Neck Park District’s Synchronized skating teams, the Ice Gems and the Icicles, both competed at the 2017 Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid, February 2 through 5. Both teams won first place in their divisions for their performances. This is the first time since competing in the Empire Winter Games, that either team won the gold. Go Great Neck Park District synchronized skaters! We are so proud of you. Congratulations!! Synchronized skating is one of the fastest growing discipline sports that involves 8-16 skaters while performing to music. Our teams provide skaters the opportunity to work as a team, compete, and create new friendships while improving their skating skills. This sport is a fun rewarding experience for all ages and levels. All skaters interested in participating must audition. Team placement is based on age and skating ability.
