Skating at the Rink - holiday schedule

Everyone is welcome on Sunday, September 17, when there will be free admission at the rink for our Bruins Intramural Hockey program; 12-1 p.m. and for our Skate School program, a free public session; 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
All are welcome to attend.

The 2017/18 ice skating season officially begins at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink’s “Winter Is Coming” Party, Sunday, September 17.  Along with a free hockey clinic (12 noon - 1 p.m.) and free admission to the skate school/public session between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. there will be lots of off-ice activities including free cotton candy, face painting and more.

At the start of the 1:30 p.m. session, there will be an on-ice performance by the following skaters. Sixteen year old, G. N. North High School student, Ilana Sedaka, has been skating for eleven years. She is currently a two-time USFS gold medalist for life. Ilana enjoys freestyle, as well as ice dance. She has earned 7 national solo ice dance medals since 2011 and was the 2016 National gold medal champion for solo gold pattern dances. This year she earned another National gold medal championship in Junior Pattern Dance and a bronze medal in international solo pattern dance. Ilana was a principle skater on the stage in A Holiday Spectacular on Ice, a skating body double for actress Rachel Weiss and has performed for Ice Theater of New York. Brooke Cenname is 16 years old and has been skating at Parkwood since age two. She has been a member of the Great Neck Figure Skating Club and has represented the club at local, regional and national competitions. Brooke has advanced to multiple USFS National Showcase Competitions. She is a two- time competitor at the State Games of America, representing New York and the Great Neck Park District’s Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink, taking home one gold, two silver and a bronze medal. Francesca Cilluffo, 14 year old, ninth grade student at G. N. North High School, has been skating since the age of 6, with a concentration on showcase, freestyle and ice dance. For the past five years, she has qualified for Ice Dance Nationals.  This year she won a national title in ice dance, as well as holding a New York State, New Jersey State and East Coast regional Ice Dance Champion title.  Eden Reznik, first started skating at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink at 8 years old. When first enrolled in Skate School, her passion for skating began to grow; her desire just accelerated from there.  Currently skating on a daily basis, Eden participates in regional competitions throughout the year.

Say hello to our new Skate School Director, Joelle Forte.  Joelle has an impressive resume. She is a U.S. National and International competitor, an Eastern Sectional champion, 5-time North Atlantic Regional champion, Skate America competitor, Team USA, USFS registered coach, USPS & PSA member and a USFS Regional, Sectional and Junior National coach.  Be sure to meet Joelle and inquire about our Skate School.
